Heuss Turks

As Heuss-Turks referred were about 150 young Turkish nationals after 1958 Germany came. They accepted an invitation that the then Federal President Theodor Heuss had given Turkish vocational school graduates in 1957 when they were visiting Turkey in Ankara . The as vocational training measure imaginary exchange, as apprentices in a part of the group Ford -Werken Cologne began, for some of the starting point of their immigration to the Federal Republic. A number worked at Ford until they retired in the late 1980s / early 1990s.

It was the first large group of Turkish workers who came to Germany in bulk, even before the actual immigration began with the recruitment agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and Turkey in 1961. According to DOMiD reports, they were warmly welcomed in Germany and were extremely welcomed by their work colleagues popular.
