The Heusteigviertel is an area in the south of downtown Stuttgart . The district of the same name in the Stuttgart-Mitte district, which has existed since 2001, is delimited by Schlosserstrasse, Katharinenstrasse and Olgastrasse, Charlottenstrasse, Alexanderstrasse and Weißenburgstrasse. The historic Heusteigviertel is bordered by Hauptstätter Straße , Wilhelmstraße, Olgastraße and Filderstraße and borders on the Lehenviertel , Bohnenviertel and Bopser.

history

Remnants of Roman settlement have been identified at the corner of Heusteigstrasse and Bopserstrasse. The village of Immenhofen should be from 6/7. Century north of today's Wilhelmsplatz. Modern development began gradually from around 1850, and closed development did not take place until the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

Bus route 43 runs along Olgastraße.

Attractions

The Eduard-Pfeiffer-Haus, which was built in the historicist style in 1887, is located at No. 45 Heusteigstrasse. It was built as a dormitory for single men of the "Association for the Welfare of the Working Class", which was chaired by the social reformer Eduard Pfeiffer , and is still mainly used today as a student residence. The house has a hall for cultural events, in which, after the Second World War, the Württemberg state parliament met, then the Baden-Württemberg state parliament until 1961. The ABV room theater venue is in the basement
