Hexarthra mira is a species of the genus Hexarthra from the tribe of the rotifers (Rotatoria). The species was initially called Pedalion mira .
description
The animals reach a size of 160–210 µm, well-nourished giant specimens reach up to 400 µm. They are footless and on the body there are six oar attachments of different lengths with fan-shaped feather bristles. On the rear end there are two ciliate extensions. The animals have two lens eyes .
distribution
The species can be found in planktonic form in lakes and ponds in summer and autumn .
