Hidemaro Fujibayashi ( Japanese 藤 林 秀 麿 , Fujibayashi Hidemaro ) is a Japanese game developer at Nintendo . Previously a developer at Capcom , Fujibayashi is a planner and director of The Legend of Zelda series .
Act
Prior to his career as a game developer, Fujibayashi designed haunted Japanese houses . In 1995 he was hired by the great Japanese video game developer Capcom . At first he worked there as a planner. He then made his directorial debut as a member of Capcom's Production Studio 1 with the N64 game Magical Tetris Challenge .
At this time Capcom began a strong collaboration with Nintendo, which is why Capcom was allowed to develop offshoots of Nintendo's well-known game series The Legend of Zelda . Fujibayashi became the director of these projects; four Capcom / Nintendo Zelda games were created with his participation.
These four titles were created in cooperation between Capcom's Flagship studio and Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis & Development (EAD) department. After developing the last of these four titles, Fujibayashi left Capcom and was employed by Nintendo and assigned to the EAD. In May 2004, EAD started developing a new Zelda offshoot for the Nintendo DS . Fujibayashi later joined the team as an assistant director. Immediately afterwards, work began on a Zelda part for Wii. Development lasted five years and in 2011 the game was released as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword , referred to by Nintendo producers as the largest internal Nintendo production of all time. Fujibayashi was a director and thus head of a development team with over 200 contributors.
