Hideyuki Kikuchi

Hideyuki Kikuchi ( Japanese 菊 地 秀 行 , Kikuchi Hideyuki ; born September 25, 1949 in Chōshi ) is a Japanese writer of science fiction and horror novels .

He attended Aoyama Gakuin University . His first novel Makai Toshi (Shinjuku) ( 魔界都市<新宿> ) he wrote in 1982. These followed numerous horror novels, including 17 novels about Kyūketsuki Hunter D . He also writes “Darkside Blues” and “Wicked City”.

His Makai Toshi (Shinjuku) was also adapted in several short manga and anime series. The latter were published by ADV Films under the titles Demon City Hunter , Demon City Shinjuku and Demon Palace Babylon in the USA. Kyūketsuki Hunter D was also adapted with two movies: 1985 based on the first volume and 2000 based on the third volume. Outside of Japan, these were published as Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust .

In 1983 he published the SF novel Kaze no Na wa Amnesia , which was adapted as an anime film in 1990 and was released in the UK and USA under the title A Wind Named Amnesia . A 2005 re-publication of the novel together with Invader Summer was published in 2009 in an English translation ( ISBN 1-59307-934-6 ).

His younger brother is the musician Naruyoshi Kikuchi .
