The Aoyama Gakuin University ( Jap. 青山学院大学 , Aoyama gakuin daigaku in short, Aoyama, Aogaku, AGU) is a university in Shibuya , Tokyo with affiliated schools.
history
The university is part of a school system that covers all age groups, from kindergarten to doctoral studies. The origins of the university lie in the establishment of schools by Methodist missionaries in 1874. The actual legal university has existed since 1949.

In May 2006, 18,507 students were studying at the university, 8120 of them women. By May 2006 there were a total of 172,578 graduates.
Academic teaching staff
The university employs 477 permanent academic teachers, 73 of whom are women. There are also 1,176 part-time lecturers.
Campus area
The campus in Shibuya ( 35 ° 39 ′ 40.3 ″ N , 139 ° 42 ′ 37.9 ″ E ) has an area of 72,620 m², the campus in Sagamihara ( 35 ° 34 ′ 0.7 ″ N , 139 ° 24 ′ 10.4 ″ O ) occupies 157,208 m². The university buildings have a total usable area of 259,108 m².
The Shibuya campus is located in the east of the Shibuya district at the Omote-Sandō subway station, but is also a ten-minute walk from JR Shibuya station .
Sagamihara Chūō Campus District opened in 2003; at the same time, previous campus sites in Atsugi and Setagaya were given up.
Admission of foreign students
Foreign students can apply to study in the faculties or in the master’s courses.
Applicants from Germany to study in one of the faculties must be over 18 years of age. Since lectures are predominantly held in Japanese, knowledge of Japanese is required. Accordingly, written and oral entrance exams are planned in Japanese.
