Hieronymus Muheim
Hieronymus Muheim (* after 1570 ; † after 1610 ) was a Swiss politician .
Life
Hieronymus Muheim's father, Niklaus, was a land clerk and delegate of the Diet and his mother's name was Agatha Franck. He grew up in a Catholic family and was later married to Eva Wolleb.
From 1606 to 1609 he was the village governor of Altdorf . It is also proven that Hieronymus Muheim was also active as a land clerk in the canton of Uri from 1605 to 1610 .
After he wrote the melody Wilhelmus von Nassawe , he composed the song Wilhelm bin ich der Telle around 1610 . This tells the story of William Tell in 27 stanzas . The lyrics of the song were first printed in Freiburg im Üechtland in 1613 , and reprints continued into the 19th century. The melody was widespread and was played until the first half of the century before last when the Landsgemeinde opened .
