action

Mel Mermelstein is a Jew of Hungarian descent who was the only one of his family to survive the Holocaust . After the war he immigrated to the United States and has lived in California ever since . There he has founded a family and a company over time. At the same time, he also gives lectures on the Holocaust and against forgetting this event, whereby he has also built a shrine about what happened next to his house. He does this because he promised his father before he became a victim of the Holocaust.

One day he is asked by a right-wing organization, the Institute for Historical Review , which denies the Holocaust, to provide evidence of the extermination of the Jews. They promise him $ 50,000 if he can produce such evidence. Although Jewish organizations advise against accepting the provocation, he decides to defend himself and with the help of the Irish lawyer William Cox he finally succeeds in using a legal trick to have the matter brought to justice.

There, after a bitter confrontation with this organization, Mel succeeded in having the Holocaust recognized as a fact in the American courts. He also gets the organization to pay him damages later and apologize to him and others like him. Still, the Institute for Historical Review and other right-wing organizations continue to advocate that the Holocaust is a lie, and this continues to be emphasized. So the confrontation over this issue continues despite everything.
