The Higdon Island is a 1 km long and up to 62 m high island off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the northernmost of the three Gould Islands in the southwest of Marguerite Bay . The island is relatively flat, apart from numerous pointed rock needles on the southern half.
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2009 after John Higdon, first mate of the US research vessel RV Laurence M. Gould , who sighted the Gould Islands on January 24, 2009.
