High Fashion was an American R&B band from New York City .

history

The band was founded by producer Jacques Fred Petrus (including Change, The BB & Q. Band, The Ritchie Family and Zinc). Her only top 40 hit in the American R&B charts was Feelin 'Lucky Lately (1982, number 32).

Singer Erick McClinton had unsuccessfully recorded several singles as Eric & The Vikings in the early 1970s, including some for the Motown label Gordy. During his time at high fashion he also sang background for various projects by Jacques Fred Petrus.

Meli'sa Morgan , also employed as a background singer for artists such as Melba Moore or Kashif , left the trio after the first album to start a solo career that quickly surpassed the success of high fashion. She was replaced by Marcella Allen, who had previously sung in the background on albums by Aquarian Dream , Lonnie Liston Smith or Hannibal Marvin Peterson .

Also Alyson Williams try like Morgan and was a soloist in the late 1980s some top 10 hits on the R & B charts. Her biggest success, I Need Your Lovin ' , also made it to the top ten in the UK singles chart.

The only two high fashion albums, both of which were released on Capitol , were re-released on Expansion Records in 2012.
