The Highland Wildlife Park is located in the Highlands of Scotland just a few kilometers south of Aviemore in the area of ​​the Cairngorms National Park . The wildlife park opened in 1972 and is run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland along with the Edinburgh Zoo .

The wildlife park is primarily home to European wild animals such as European forest reindeer ( Rangifer tarandus fennicus ), red deer , bison , elk , wolf , lynx and beaver . There are also some rare species from northern Asia, such as the Amur tiger , polar bear , Bukhara deer , kiang , Przewalski's horse , blue sheep , screw goat , mischmi takin , Chinese goral , red-faced macaque , lesser panda , house yak and trample .
