Gabor Vernon

Leslie Gabor Vernon ( 1925 - April 23, 1985 in London ) was a British actor .

Vernon played supporting roles in some feature films and several British television series in the 1970s and 1980s . He embodied most of the noble gentlemen , often in a high social position. His roles included diplomats , ambassadors , scientists , doctors and courtiers . However, in some of his cinema roles, he was not mentioned in the credits .

Vernon starred in two James Bond films : 1973 as a Hungarian diplomat in Live and Let Die and 1983 as Russian Borchoi in James Bond 007 - Octopussy . In Octopussy he played a curator and art expert at the Leningrad Hermitage who threw the Romanovs' star ( Romanov star in the original script ), a Fabergé egg , to the ground after realizing that it was a fake.

In 1978 he played a courtier at the side of Kabir Bedi in the fairytale adventure film The Thief of Baghdad . In the US miniseries Holocaust - The Story of the Weiss Family , he played the role of Rabbi Samuel . In 1980 he played a translator in Peter Greenaway's film The Falls . His last role was in 1985 the jeweler in the historical drama Lady Jane - Queen for Nine Days .
