Highlight Kenosis is a melodic progressive rock band from Cologne .

history

The band was founded in 2007 by Matei Damian Ulmu in Bucharest , Romania.

Together with singer Oana Maria Stoica, Alexandru Berehoi, Dragos Serbanescu and John Ciurea, the band released their first album Glowing in 2008 , which was recorded in Sweden by Teddy Möller and Lawrence Mackrory.

After the release of Glowing , the two singles A Drop of You and It wasn't love stayed at number 1 on the Romanian rock charts for a long time. The band played over 200 concerts, TV shows and radio appearances on their tour in Romania. In 2009 the band opened concerts for Glenn Hughes at the Kystendil Festival in Bulgaria. At this time, Adrian Sardi and Dan Alexandru began work on the second album Change , which was recorded again in Sweden by Teddy Möller in 2010.

In 2011 Highlight Kenosis signed with Ravenheart Music in London.

Matei Damian Ulmu then decided to open up new paths for the band and relocated the musical work to Germany. Together with new management, singer Oana Maria Stoica, and drummer Daniel Busenius, the band began to realign itself in Cologne.

In 2012, Oana Maria Stoica left the band and was replaced by the Brazilian singer Marina La Torraca.

With further support from various guest musicians, work began on the third studio album, Shield of Faith .

In 2013 the band decided to work with singer Amanda Somerville (Trillium, Avantasia, Epica, Kamelot) and Sander Gommans (After Forever) to record the third studio album, Shield of Faith .

style

On the first two albums, Glowing (2008) and Change (2010), elements of melodic progressive rock as well as progressive metal can be identified.

However, the third album Shield of Faith (2013) also shows melodic connections to Power Metal . The band is also characterized by the characteristically powerful vocals and the virtuoso guitar solos by guitarist Damian Ulmu.
