Hilary Evans

Hilary Agard Evans (born March 6, 1929 in Shrewsbury , † July 27, 2011 ) was a British picture archivist, parapsychologist and author .

After studying at King's College at the University of Cambridge and at the University of Birmingham , he worked from 1953 as an advertising copywriter for the Mather & Crowther agency .

Together with his wife Mary (nee Lander; 1936-2010), whom he married in 1956, he founded in 1964 the Agency Mary Evans Picture Library, focusing on illustrations from the 18th and 19th century specialized. In 1981 he was one of the founders of the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP). He was also a member of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) and the British UFO Research Association (BUFORA).

In his non-fiction books he dealt with topics from the fields of art and social history as well as paranormal phenomena such as B. UFOs , whose socio-cultural background he sought to capture. One of his research areas was the phenomenon of Street Lamp Interference (SLI; street lamp interference).

In December 2010 he donated his private collection to the Archives for UFO Research in Sweden .
