Hilda Gaxiola Alvárez (born July 14, 1972 in Guamúchil ) is a former Mexican beach volleyball player .

Career

Gaxiola played her first open tournaments with Teresa Galindo Mata in 1999 . At the World Championships in Marseille , the Mexicans finished 33rd. The following year they took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney and were eliminated early after losing two. In 2001 Gaxiola formed a new duo with her long-time partner Mayra García . After surviving the preliminary round, she defeated her previous teammate Galindo in the first main round of the World Cup in Klagenfurt and lost to the Czechs Celbová / Nováková in the second round .

Two years later, Gaxiola / García failed in Rio de Janeiro as second in the group to the Chinese You Wenhui and Wang Lu . Before the World Cup, they had achieved top ten results in various open tournaments. They also won silver at the Pan American Games . In 2004 in Athens they had to say goodbye to the Olympic tournament after the preliminary round without winning a set. At the 2005 World Cup in Berlin , they lost in the second round against the German duo Lahme / Müsch and on the losing side against the Greek Koutroumanidou / Tsiartsiani . After finishing ninth at the Acapulco Open, they separated at the end of the year. Gaxiola played several open tournaments with Rosario Reyes in 2007 and 2008 .
