portrait

In the Hilde Big Band, students, former students, parents and teachers made music together under the direction of business and geography teacher Tobias Berlinger. The style was uncomplicated light music from the genres of musicals , evergreens , rock , Dixie , spiritual and film music . The members rehearsed annually on a rehearsal phase lasting several days outside the high school. The interpersonal aspect was always in the foreground and made it possible to build bridges between young and older musicians. In addition, there was the Hilde Big Band, in which students from grades 5–7 played under the direction of music teacher Hans Fehre.

history

The Hilde Big Band was founded in 2009 by Tobias Berlinger. The teacher for geography and economics has already led a similarly large band at the Gregor-Mendel-Gymnasium (Amberg) . At Hildegardis-Gymnasium there were initially 130 students he was able to get excited about the project. After the number of members grew rapidly, the first concerts were played and the level of awareness rose.

In 2011 the city of Kempten took the band to the twin town of Quiberon , where they gave several concerts. The biggest concerts so far took place in January 2011 and 2013, when the Hilde big band played in front of 3000 spectators in the bigBOX Allgäu , the largest event hall in the region. In January 2015 the big band spent a week in Vienna , where several concerts were given. On January 16 and 17, 2016, the Hilde Big Band performed in the Musiktheater Füssen , with a total of 1900 concert-goers .
