Hildebrand Richard Teirich

Hildebrand Richard Teirich (often HR Teirich ; * May 7, 1907 in Vienna , † after 1978) was a doctor , neurologist and psychotherapist who played an "important role" in music therapy .

Teirich did his doctorate in medicine in Vienna and played “ clavichord and spinet ”. He was in charge of the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic at the University Neurological Clinics in Innsbruck (1947/48) and Graz (1948–50). In 1948 he discovered "through contacts with a London psychiatric hospital the possibility of gymnastics and music making in the treatment plan". From 1953 he was a specialist in nervous diseases in private practice in Freiburg im Breisgau .
