Hildebrand Zollner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hildebrand Zollner († January 7, 1414 ) was abbot of the Benedictine monastery in Münsterschwarzach from 1401 to 1403 . However, he is only mentioned as such in the abbot series by Heinrich Wagner and does not appear in the other representations. He was appointed by the convention as the counter-abbot to Kraft von Buchheim, named by Bieberehren , but could not prevail.

Münsterschwarzach before Zollner

The 14th century in Münsterschwarzach was marked by several divisions in the convent of the monastery. This first happened in 1317 when two abbots of the same name quarreled. Ultimately, Konrad I. Zobel was able to win and was enfeoffed with the abbey. The abbey experienced the second schism in 1374 when two abbots presided over the monastery for a year. Here it was Konrad IV von Maienfels who emerged victorious from the dispute.

Life

The springs flow only sparsely via Abbot Hildebrand Zollner. This is due to the short term of his term of office and the reasons for his promotion to abbot : In 1401 the convention planned to get rid of the elected abbot Kraft von Buchheim and unanimously elected Hildebrand Zollner as the new prelate. However, Bishop Johann I von Egloffstein decided to continue to hold on to strength as abbot. Hildebrand Zollner was resigned from the provost office in Dimbach . He died on January 7th in 1414.
