Hildegardis Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic Order of the St. Hildegardis Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate was founded in 1921 by Father Adolf Panzer PSM and Sister M. Christine Mehn SAC in Ebertsheim / Pfalz and approved in 1927 by the Bishop of Speyer .

Between 1923 and 1956 the mother house, called "Haus Nazareth", was in Boßweiler near Grünstadt . The founder of the order, Father Adolf Panzer SAC (1884–1925) and his successor, Spiritual Hermann Knoll (1897–1935) , lived, worked and died here . Both priests - the founding fathers of the community - were originally buried in the Quirnheim cemetery; on the occasion of the relocation of the motherhouse to Königsbach an der Weinstrasse , to the “Hildebrandseck” monastery, on October 29, 1959, she was transferred there. In 1965 there were 83 sisters, in 2004 they sold this monastery due to a lack of children and relocated the motherhouse to Pirmasens . In 2010 the order only consisted of 16 sisters, all of whom lived in the Speyer diocese .

In 1930 the well-known, allegedly stigmatized, Therese Neumann von Konnersreuth was visiting the Hildegardis sisters in Boßweiler.

Living according to the statutes of St. Vincent Pallotti , they originally participated in pastoral care, but were also active in nursing the sick and families, as well as in child and youth work.
