Heavenly Moselle droplets

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heavenly Moselle droplet was a registered trademark of the Franz Wilhelm Langguth Erben GmbH & Co. KG winery . It is a table wine that was developed as a mixture of different white grape varieties and became the "fashion wine" of the economic miracle in Germany.

On November 16, 1953, the word and figurative mark “Heavenly Moselle droplets” was registered with the German Patent Office (DPA) for the first time. The wine was awarded the “International Gold Medal Brussels 1956” and the “Medaille d'argent Ljubljana 1958”. The taste was uniform and consistently sweet, tangy. There is usually no year on the bottles, except for special occasions such as the 25th anniversary.

The news magazine Der Spiegel wrote on September 30, 1964: “The mixtures with the fantasy names robbed consumers, whose judgment was already overstretched by 25,000 conventional location descriptions, the last understanding of wine; sales did not improve significantly. In this desperate situation on the Moselle, the idea of a standardized branded wine came up for the first time. The large wine cellar Franz Wilhelm Langguth Erben created a heavenly Moselle droplet years ago ... "

In the course of time, various variations of the logo have been placed under protection. Thus, the labels on the wine bottles were also protected against imitation. The trademark protection finally ended on May 31, 2012.

As successor products, the winery carries several types of wine and wine cocktail under the name “Heavenly Droplet”, some of which are characterized by a relatively low alcohol content of 4% or more.
