development

The history of the medium-sized private winery Franz Wilhelm Langguth Erben GmbH & Co. KG goes back to the year 1789. Founded by Franz Wilhelm Langguth, the company is now in the seventh generation of family ownership.

With brands like Himmlisches MoselTröpfchen , the wine cellar conquered the German market in the 1950s and 1960s.

The most successful wine brand since 1964 is "Erben" with around 360 million bottles and the two most popular wines, Erben Spätlese and Erben Dornfelder.

The well-known marketing expert Hans Domizlaff developed his last major brand creation for Franz Wilhelm Langguth Erben in 1967, the French wine brand Medinet . The brand concept includes in particular the bottle shape created by Domizlaff - an amphora - and the brand name Medinet. Under this brand and in the amphora designed by Domizlaff, the wine is still sold by Langguth today and is one of the largest wine brands in Germany. In 2017, for the 50th anniversary, the brand was completely relaunched with special editions.

The Langguth Group has also included the H. Sichel Söhne GmbH export winery with the Blue Nun wine brand - it is one of the most famous German wine brands worldwide, as well as Erben Weingut 1789 and the Villa W. Weinmanufaktur with vineyards on the Moselle and Ruwer .

Today you can find wine from Franz Wilhelm Langguth Erben all over Germany and in over 80 countries worldwide.
