Hinterbrühler See

The Hinterbrühler See is a small body of water in the Munich district of Thalkirchen .

location

The lake is located in the Hinterbrühl district of Thalkirchen in the corner between the Isar-Werkkanal and the Ländkanal shortly after its branching off from the Werkkanal. At the north end of the lake is the lock keeper's house in Hinterbrühl , at the south end the statue “ Der Isarflößer ”. The Gasthof Hinterbrühl is located on the opposite side of the Länd Canal .

history

The lake was created at the beginning of the 20th century as part of the construction of the Ländkanal and the extension of the Isar-Werkkanal. During the construction work, an oxbow lake from the Isar was separated from the main river and partially filled in in the southern part. In addition, the now created lake was enlarged by gravel dredging for the canal dams.

description

The water is fed with water from the Isar works canal via a small concrete pipe and is probably also connected to the groundwater . In the north and west there are two drains into the Ländkanal. There is a small island in the lake that is accessed via a wooden walkway.

The Hinterbrühler See is a popular destination all year round, in summer for rowing, in winter (when the ice cover is closed) for curling . The Hinterbrühler See, together with the adjacent green area, is part of the Isarauen landscape protection area ( LSG-00120.09 ).
