The Gasthof Hinterbrühl is a restaurant with a beer garden in Munich . The building is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

Location and surroundings

The inn is to the left of the Isar in Hinterbrühl , the southernmost district of the Munich district of Thalkirchen . The building is elevated on the Isar slope at the point where Gerblstraße pulls up the slope. At the upper edge of the slope is the villa colony Prinz-Ludwigs-Höhe , on the hill directly above the inn, a castle stable is assumed. The raft canal flows past to the east of the inn, with the Hinterbrühler See and the Isar-Werkkanal still between it and the Isar . Opposite the inn there is a bridge over the raft canal, behind it is the former lock keeper's house, which is also listed .

history

The building emerged around 1900 from an okonomiehof, in which a restaurant for the Isar raftsmen was set up after the opening of the neighboring central area . Thanks to the idyllic location and the proximity to the villa colony Prinz-Ludwigs-Höhe , the restaurant quickly attracted visitors from Munich's citizens.

In 1909, the architect Josef Wardrobe rebuilt the elongated main building of the property in a country house style . A transverse gable was added to the building on the east side and wooden balconies were added. This alpine style has been preserved to this day. In 1991 the inn was extensively renovated.

Landlord of the inn until his death on 28 July 2010, the United restaurateur, hotelier and football functionary Karl-Heinz Wildmoser . Gerry Haberl then took over the inn and continues to run it today.
