Hippias (sculptor)
Hippias ( ancient Greek Ἱππίας ) was a Greek sculptor who worked in the 4th century BC. Was active.
Pausanias reports that a victorious statue of the tyrant Duris of Samos created by Hippias stood in the Zeus sanctuary Olympia . According to the inscription on the statue, Duris was the winner in the boys' fistfight . He and his family were in exile at that time because of the Athenian occupation of the island of Samos (366 / 365-320 / 321 BC).
