Hippothoon
Hippothoon ( Greek Ἱπποθόων ) is a figure from Greek mythology .
He was the son of Poseidon and Alope , the daughter of Kerkyon of Eleusis . He was abandoned by his mother and suckled by a mare until shepherds found him and raised him. The mother, who was imprisoned for death by her father, turned Poseidon into a source of the same name at Eleusis.
When Theseus had overcome and killed the Kerkyon in a wrestling match, he transferred its rule to the Hippothoon, who was revered as the hero of the Attic phyle Hippothoontis .
