Heinrich Heinkelmann

Heinrich Friedrich August Heinkelmann (born May 8, 1807 in Bamberg ; † February 15, 1866 there ) was a Bamberg doctor and political activist. He was co-author of the 14 Bamberg articles .

Originally Heinkelmann had in Munich , Erlangen and Jena studied law and would like his friend and companion, the Democratic politician Nicholas Titus , lawyer become. Heinkelmann did not pass the exam for political reasons and went on to study medicine , which he completed in 1836 with the Dr. med. completed. From 1839 he practiced as a doctor in Ebensfeld , from 1846 in his hometown Bamberg. He died of tuberculosis .

During his studies he became a member of the Markomannia Munich fraternity in 1827 , the Germania Munich fraternity in 1829, the Old Erlanger fraternity Germania in 1829 , the Old Würzburg fraternity Germania in 1830 and probably the fraternity in Jena in 1830.

Alongside Nikolaus Titus, Heinkelmann was the most prominent Bamberg democrat during the revolution of 1848/49 . He was already politically active the years before. During the study it was because of a treason indictment in custody , in June 1849, he was arrested again. After his acquittal , his health was in poor health until his death.

A small street in Bamberg is named after him.
