Millet mill (Niederwald)

The millet mill was a watermill on the Ohm in Niederwald , a district of the central Hessian town of Kirchhain in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district .

In Niederwald, a mill is mentioned for the first time in 1282, which was subject to interest by the Archbishopric of Mainz . Since 1361, this mill was a fief of those from the Nuhn . Another mill, the few mills , has been documented for 1356 .

The millet mill was built around 1700. It was opposite the Schönbacher Grindelmühle , which was rebuilt in 1709 after being destroyed in the Thirty Years' War in 1640. The mill had two undershot water wheels, two grinding stages and a beater . It was demolished in 1864.
