Shepherd's field

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A shepherd's field was a field whose yield was due to a community shepherd as part of his salary. So in 1797 the community shepherd Gießberger received in Dombühl

“12 Rothenburg Malter spelled,
32 1/2 gulden in cash,
2 fathoms, 6 shoe-sized wood plus sticks and logs,
1 1/4 day's work meadows adjoining the Furthwiesen,
1/2 day's work in meadows on the lake,
3/4 day's work below the front tube.
There is also a free apartment in the shepherd's house with grass, scorch, and herb garden, plus 1/2 quarter field not far from the shepherd's house, lying in the well and 1/4 field on the mountain. "
