action

Bob Madden comes home drunk . His father angrily indicates to him that he should go and take care of himself. The next morning he secretly leaves and leaves a message: “Dear Dad, I'm going west and trying to become a man there. I hope that one day you can be proud of me. Your son Bob. ”His father, whose first reaction he is now sorry for, later also goes to the train station and also buys a ticket to follow his son.

In the meantime, Bob has already arrived. He reads about a vacancy that the Carter Ranch hires cowboys with suitable clothing . He buys the clothes at the train station and goes to the ranch. The foreman does not want to hire him when it becomes clear that Bob cannot handle the lasso . Bob rides on and encounters a bandit camp on the way . He befriends the outlaws , attracted by the rough warmth of the bandits.

In the meantime, the ranch owner, Joseph Carter, is getting his new car. Since he doesn't have time to try it out himself, he lets his daughter Jessie drive off with his foreman and a chauffeur . The car breaks down and the chauffeur has to walk back to the ranch to get spare parts . While waiting, the foreman approaches Jessie. Her screams, however, call Bob and the bandits on the scene, who rush to her aid. The foreman recognizes the leader of the gang. When he finally returns to the ranch, he brings the cowboys to chase after the bandits. When they find the camp, however, it is already deserted. However, they eventually catch Bob, who they believe is a bandit.

Bob had loaned his horse to Jessie so she could return to the ranch. When Jessie arrives home, she learns where the cowboys and the foreman are. She reports everything to her father, who immediately sets off. He arrives at exactly the same time as Bob's father. They recognize each other and remember that they are old friends. The man at the station recognizes Bob and relieves him. Everything dissolves in favor: Bob gets the longed-for job on the ranch and can get to know Jessie better.
