Hiscox is an international specialty insurer listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: HSX). As an underwriter at Lloyd's of London , Hiscox serves niche markets and focuses on covering professional and special risks such as professional liability, cybercrime, kidnapping and satellite damage. For wealthy individuals or institutions, Hiscox also offers special home, home and art insurance. The company is listed in the FTSE 250 .
history
Hiscox was founded in London , where the company began business in the Lloyd's of London insurance market . In 1990 Hiscox plc. Listed as a holding company on the London Stock Exchange, where it forms part of the FTSE 250 Index . Hiscox has had a branch in Munich since 1995 , which is still the headquarters of the German company today. In 2006 a branch was opened in Cologne and in 2007 also in Hamburg . 1996 took over the Hiscox plc. the Economic Insurance Company, which was then renamed Hiscox Insurance .
Products and organization
Hiscox insures financial losses directly and as liability insurance. Even professional liability insurance are offered.
The Hiscox Group is divided into three main areas:
- Hiscox London Market for international transactions on the London market that have to be underwritten by several insurers or that require international licenses from Lloyd's
- Hiscox UK and Europe for insurance for certain professional groups, business customers and private customers.
- Hiscox International , consisting of Hiscox Insurance Company Ltd, Hiscox Underwriting Ltd, and Hiscox Syndicates Ltd, are regulated by the Financial Services Authority .
