The Spanish-Italian Battlegroup emerged in 2009 from the Spanish-Italian Amphibious Force (SIAF) founded in 1998 and the associated Spanish-Italian Landing Force (SILF) . SIAF / SILF was and is used to form and activate this battlegroup.
