Historic landmarks in Böttstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The historical boundary stones in Böttstein show the Bernese coat of arms to the south and west and the coat of arms of the County of Baden to the north and east and serve today as boundary stones for various communities.

After the conquest of Aargau in 1415 by the Bernese , Böttstein , which was located in the county of Baden in the parish of Leuggern , bordered on the Bernese Oberamt Schenkenberg . The course of the border was determined shortly before the Reformation in 1520. In order to end disputes over hunting and forest, especially in the Etzwil area, thirteen landmarks were erected from the Aare to Leibstadt-Bernau am Rhein in 1600 and, for the last time, in 1781 .
