Trivia

In March 2007, the Heigelkopf gained notoriety outside of the German-speaking area, as it was referred to in Google Earth as the Hitler Mountain in addition to its actual name . According to homeland researchers, it was actually dedicated to Adolf Hitler in April 1934 by a resolution of the Wackersberg municipal council and renamed Hitler-Berg . In addition, a large illuminated swastika was placed on the summit . Google Earth had probably taken the name from the maps of the US secret service NGA . The renaming seems to have been little known beyond the community itself. According to Google Earth, the name was finally removed in an "unscheduled update". In January 2014 it was reported that Google Maps continued to find the Heiglkopf when the search term Hitler-Berg is entered. Contrary to press reports, this forwarding has not yet been deactivated, the mountain can still be found in Google Maps as "Hitler-Berg".
