from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Holy Trinity Church ( Armenian Սուրբ Երրորդություն եկեղեցի , Turkish Surp Yerrortutyun Kilisesi ) was a historic Armenian Apostolic Church in the Tepebaşı district of Eskişehir , which was converted into a cinema and later into a cultural center after the genocide of the Armenians in 1915.

The church, built in the 19th century, is located in the former Armenian district of Hoşnudiye on the banks of the Porsuk Çayı River. The building belonged to a foundation and after the deportation of the Armenian civilian population was rented and converted into a cinema in 1945 and later sold. The Asri cinema was closed due to a fire in 1948 and reopened in 1950. From 1974 sex and erotic films were shown here. The restoration work began in 2009. After the church stood empty for about three years, it has been used as a cultural center since September 2010, which is named after Zübeyde Hanım , Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's mother .

The Holy Trinity Church stands out due to its special dome. Today there is a hall with 440 seats.
