Hnoss is a figure from Norse mythology . Her name is old Norse and means "preciousness, gem". It is mentioned in the Gylfaginning and in the Skáldskaparmál .

She is the daughter of Freya and Óðr . After the old Icelandic poet Snorri Sturluson , Hnoss is so beautiful that everything that is beautiful and precious is named after its name.
