Planer (heraldry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The plane as a distinctive carpentry tool is a common figure in heraldry .

The depiction as a heraldic figure essentially follows the natural model. All heraldic colors are possible, but the metals gold and silver are preferred. The spread in the coat of arms is low and often indicates the craft of the joiner or joiner. In Swiss the profession is also called table maker. In art, the plane, often combined with a straightedge, is also known for a lot of symbolism.

The plane can also be combined with other tools, which is often done in paraheraldry and guild signs . The position of the plane in the shield or field should also be reported if the nose or horn is not to the right .
