Hobie Cat
Hobie Cats are small and light sailing catamarans and trimarans ("TriFoilers") that are used for both regattas and recreational boating .
The Hobie Cats were designed by Hobart Age (nickname: Hobie ). The manufacturer is the US shipyard Hobie . More than 135,000 boats of the Hobie 16 alone have been delivered worldwide.
Hobie Cat sailors are organized in the International Hobie Cat Class Association (IHCA). The Hobie 16 is the most popular model. All models are equipped with a trampoline between the floats on which the sailors can move. The boats are designed for one to six people.
history
Hobart Alter introduced the Hobie 14 beach catamaran in 1968 . Due to the success, the further developed Hobie 16 was brought onto the market in 1971 . Other models followed.

The current (2012) product line ranges from boats 14 to 21 feet (3.66 m to 6.7 m) in length and mast heights of 20 to 33 feet. Important models were or are:
