The bunker in the Bonn district of Dottendorf is located on Quirinusplatz , about 6 km south of the city center in the city of Bonn on the left bank of the Rhine. It stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The bunker was built in 1941/42. It served as an air raid shelter during World War II and was preserved during the Cold War . The last time sanitary and supply systems were repaired in 1984. In 2011, the civil protection bond expired and in 2014 the bunker was put up for sale by the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks . A valuation of EUR 285,000 was given as the target price . At the end of 2014, the building contractors and brothers Andreas and Stephan Frey acquired the property. The two entrepreneurs had already taken over the bunker in Bonn-Beuel ( Auf der Schleide / Goetheallee ) in 2012 and converted it into living space by the beginning of 2014.

Object description

The four-storey bunker stands on an almost rectangular floor plan. In addition to two side towers, it has an entrance portico as well as side and rear bay extensions at the level of the third floor. These extensions are supported by stepped consoles and serve as decoration. The two bunker entrances are on the front; they can be reached via a staircase made of natural stone . The side boundaries of the portico served as entrance protection and are two meters thick. The outer cellar walls are about three meters thick, the above-ground outer walls about two meters thick. The floor slab and the end ceiling are each around 1.40 meters thick. The ceiling height is about 2.60 meters. There are two stairwells inside the building. The concrete building has a floor space of around 822 square meters. A large number of smaller rooms were originally grouped around the central interior rooms of around 3 × 20 meters in size on each floor. During the renovation work in 1984, a large part of the non-load-bearing partition walls were removed.

The flat roof is gravel . There is a cellular antenna on the roof. The two slightly protruding corner towers are raised almost a meter above the eaves and are provided with slate-covered pyramid roofs . The tower entrances are on the sides of the building, there is no connection to the bunker interior. The spiral stairs lead directly to the upper floor.
