Hochheimer Herrnberg
The Hochheimer Herrnberg is a Rheingau vineyard in the area of the city of Hochheim am Main . It belongs to the large Daubhaus site in the Rheingau wine-growing region .
Name origin
The name of the location finds its origin in the title of the canons of Cologne and Mainz , the former originally owned the location, later the latter.
Vineyard
The 4 hectares large Herrenberg is located a former quarry that was filled with rubble, on which is calcareous sandy loess and a humus and compost edition. In contrast to the neighboring Hochheimer Stein , it is almost exclusively characterized by limestone scree, which stores heat during the day and releases it to the vines at night. The Riesling grapes grown here are characterized by sandy loess and limestone . The resulting wines have finesse, are delicate, fruity, spicy and have a balanced, fine acidity. They also have a fine aging potential and good shelf life.
