Use of floods
A flood operation is a scenario used by aid organizations during a flood . In Germany, they always take place within the framework of the disaster control of the states or the federal government .
Application area flood
In flood areas, units of the water rescue trains or water rescue groups are usually used. But especially because of the country-specific laws, there is no nationwide uniform strength and equipment certificates (STAN) . A regulated management structure must therefore be established with other disaster protection organizations.
Areas of application in floods
- Rescuing people and animals from dangerous situations
- Care and support for those affected
- medical service
- Recovery of material goods
- Evacuation of those affected
- Administrative assistance for other organizations, e.g. B. Police or fire departments
- Implementation of diving tasks
- Protection of emergency services, e.g. B. when building a dike
However, all tasks can only be carried out with the support of other civil protection organizations, such as B. the fire brigades or the technical relief organization.
Dangers in floods
Of course, the individual flood areas cannot be compared with one another due to local conditions and differences. However, generally valid statements can be made regarding dangers:
- Overwashed danger spots, such as B. ditches, fences, etc., can not be recognized immediately
- Risk of electric shocks on flooded electrical equipment
- Risk of infection and poisoning due to bacterially and chemically contaminated waters
- Damage to boats due to undetectable obstacles under the water surface
- open manhole covers have a strong suction effect
