Life

Hoda Bin Amir was born in Al-Marg near Benghazi in poor conditions. Her father, Fathi Ben Amer, was a supporter of al-Gaddafi. In 1973, in front of thousands of spectators in the Bangazi stadium, he threatened to stab his son in public if al-Gaddafi carried out his previous announcement of his resignation.

Bin Amir attended Garyounis University in Benghazi.

She was first noticed in public in 1984 on the occasion of the execution of Al-Sadik Hamid al-Schuwehdy in the basketball stadium in Benghazi. The television broadcast the scenes nationwide.

After that she personally sponsored al-Gaddafi. She worked on the revolutionary committees and chaired various bodies, including one for "Control and Censorship" . She served twice as mayor of Benghazi, where she was known for always carrying a pistol. A statement from this time became known when she claimed in a speech: “ There are no real men in Benghazi - Hura Ben Amir is the only real man in Bangasi. "

On February 17, 2008, she gave orders to shoot protesters protesting the Mohammed cartoons . There were many victims, which is why some members of the opposition have since called themselves the Coalition of February 17th .

When the civil war began in February 2010, she fled Benghazi. Her home was burned down. On September 2, 2011, the National Transitional Council announced the arrest of Hoda Bin Amir.
