The Klingelholl farm

The Hof Klingelholl (also Hofeshaus Klingelholl ) is a listed former manor in the Wuppertal district of Barmen ( Melanchthonstraße 26 ) on the edge of the Barmer Nordpark . The building is one of the last remaining court houses in the Barmens area and represents a single monument that shapes the landscape.

description

The two-storey, half-timbered house has a square footprint of 210 m². It has a dominant gable roof with two attic storeys, which is towed deep to the west. The clearly structured compartment itself can still be seen on the north gable side and on the east facade, the west and south sides were clad with wooden shingles and partially boarded up. The eastern third of the building has a cellar, and the stone base is visible from the outside.

The interior of the building is divided into three parts, in the west, in the area of the deep towed roof, were the stables and east of the hallway were the living rooms, in the hallway area, the former use as a farmhouse can largely be seen.

The peasant tower

An inscription is attached to the southern outer facade:

"All of them go out and read you o God has been ordered"

A medieval farmer's tower belongs to the Klingelholl farm and has been preserved as a wall remnant on the northeastern end of the property.

history

According to the description of the Lower Monument Authority , the building that exists today dates from the 17th century. According to another source, 1436 or 1456 is given as the year of construction. Westkotter freeman Hans Klyngenholl is known as one of the first owners. He gave his name to Klinkholt, the courtyard and the district, in multiple spelling changes. Today a street near the building bears the name Klingelholl .

The roof was renovated in 1985; in the 1950s it was still partially covered with straw. The northern and eastern facades with the compartments were renovated in 1993. Eight roof windows were renewed in 2001, and the southern and western facades were renovated in the same year.

On September 17, 1985, the manor house used as a residential building, including the outdoor facilities, was placed under monument protection as a rare example of the early Bergisch half-timbered construction.
