Hohenloher Spezial-Maschinenbau ( HSM ) is a forest machine manufacturer from Neu-Kupfer (municipality of Kupferzell in Hohenlohekreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg ).

history

The brothers Friedrich-Karl Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg and Hubert Prinz zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg founded Hohenloher Spezial-Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG (HSM for short) in 1967 for sales, customer service and the development of machines for forestry.

Initially, only machines from foreign manufacturers were sold under import contracts. As early as the 1970s, forestry machines were developed and built, such as mobile log centering systems or three-point winches.

In 1978 the first special forest tractor of the type HSM 704 was developed. These machines were manufactured by a partner, Adler in Wolfegg, which also produced the double-drum cable winches.

Further milestones in the company's history were the HSM 906 skidder (1985), the 904Z grapple tractor (1988), 6- and 8-wheel forwarders (1998) and finally 6- and 8-wheel wood harvesters since 2004 As a result, the company now has a full range of forest machines, as harvester heads are also manufactured.
