history

The cross is on the outskirts of Arnshausen in the direction of Bad Kissingen.

There is a signature by the sculptor Burkert Lux from Neustadt on the back of the cover plate . According to the inscription on the cross trunk "LH PFARR MZ S: 1779", it dates from 1779. Like research by local researcher Helmuth Mahr from 1952, the inscription means "Lorenz Helbig, Pastor" and "Michael Ziegler Schultheiss". Mahr also found a municipal invoice from 1779 sent to the sculptor Lux.

In 1977 the cross was hit by a vehicle and damaged. The cross trunk had to be renovated.

The table base and the cover plate are 90 centimeters high. On the front is the following inscription, framed by rocailles :

“Oh vos omnes,
qui transitis per viam
attendite, et videte
you est dolor
sicut dolor meus.
