The Hohe Kreuz is a land monument in Münnerstadt , a town in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is one of the Münnerstadt architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian list of monuments under the number D-6-72-135-90 .

history

The cross is about ten meters high and made of wood. In the body of the cross there is a document from which its history emerges. As a result, it was created in 1834 and was built by master bricklayer Aquilin Glückstein. However, it is not known who created the body.

Restoration work from 1970 and the helpers involved are also noted on the certificate. As part of this restoration, the horticultural facility on the cross was also created. Another thorough renovation took place in 2000.

The life-size body is carved and colored. There is a curved metal roof over the body. The cross beams are impregnated; their ends are coated with sheet metal. A lamp with candlelight is mounted on the trunk at eye level.

Nowadays the St. Mark's procession takes place every year at the end of April. It begins at the St. Maria Magdalena Church and leads to the Talkirche . Halfway there, she stops at the Hohe Kreuz and the nearby Kreuzschlepper .
