Ensembles
Ensemble old town Münnerstadt
Münnerstadt , already mentioned in 770, is inscribed on a spacious wall wreath from the 13th century that is pointed towards the south. The main street, which lies in the longitudinal axis and runs from north to south, divides the urban area ( location ) into two halves, which differ significantly in shape: The eastern half of the city is determined by the aristocratic districts of the former castle, the church square and the Teutonic Order Commandery, while in the west the two peasant alleys, which run roughly parallel to the main street, mark the middle-class peasant area. The monastery of the Augustinian hermits forms a separate spiritual district in the northwest. The original cell of the settlement is the castle complex, which no longer exists but is still clearly manifested in the city: its outline remains legible in the eastern bulge of the city wall and in the curvy course of Jörgentorstrasse and the moat, the Würzburger Zehnthof represents the castle buildings. The parish church and the Deutschherrenhof are in close spatial connection with the castle complex. In front of the castle district to the south-west is the spacious lawn parallel to the main street. The northern part of the city, in which the gardens belonging to the Augustinian monastery and the Deutschherrenhof were located, has remained largely undeveloped. The Ackerbürger settlement is determined by the main road (now Veit-shock and Riemenschneiderstraße) located in its central course of a funnel-shaped, free-standing building of the town hall enclosing marketplace expands. The deep plots are all built in such a way that the farm buildings are at the back and accessed through the rear parallel lane. This creates a closed, urban-looking development in the main street. The parallel farm alleys, on the other hand, are only occupied by front houses on one side. In the main street there is a closed row of two to three storeys, from the 18th and 19th. Century, partly older eaves side houses. The marketplace is characterized by exposed, constructive half-timbering from the 17th to 19th centuries. Century determined in its appearance. Gable and eaves side houses alternate in the Bauerngassen. The historical development is interspersed with new buildings. File number: E-6-72-135-1.
City fortifications
The city fortifications ( location ) were built until 1251. The course of the wall made of quarry stone and ashlar masonry has been preserved in large parts, but no longer in its original height. The preserved parts are located on the southwest side along the city wall path, further from the southern gate tower, the so-called Upper Gate, along the Ludwig-Nüdling-Weg to Riemenschneiderstrasse 42 in the north and as a fragment in the eastern connection to the former north-western gate tower, the so-called Thick tower. In the north-western course, the wall belt in the area of the addresses Am Dicken Turm has larger gaps, preserved tower foundation of a former outer bailey, near Leitschuhweg 1. The city fortification also has three gate towers, the so-called Dicken Turm in the northwest, the upper gate in the South and the so-called Jörgentor in the east with barbican. Starting north of the Upper Gate and clockwise, there are the following preserved sections of the city fortifications.
- Stadtmauerweg, section of the city wall, 13th century ( location )
- Am Dicken Turm 14, associated city wall ( location )
- Riemenschneiderstraße 42, at the rear property line, city wall ( location )

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
