Ensembles
Ensemble market square Hammelburg
The expansion of Hammelburg to a city by the abbots of Fulda took place around the middle of the 13th century. Two old parts of the settlement, a manor house and a shop were merged. In the middle of the new city, the spacious, rectangular market square ( Lage ) was created at the intersection of the long-distance routes. The medieval townscape was lost in the great fire of 1854. The marketplace today therefore has buildings from the Maximilian period above the high medieval floor plan. The gable front of the town hall, which has been renewed in line with the Maximilian Neo-Gothic, dominates the square on its south-western side. The renaissance market fountain is slightly eccentric, roughly at the intersection of the converging streets. Boundary: Marktplatz 1–15, Kirchgasse 2, Weihertorstraße 1. File number: E-6-72-127-1.
Ensemble Bahnhofstrasse Hammelburg
In the lower part of Bahnhofstrasse ( location ), the building structure and most of the building substance from the time before the city fire of 1854 has been preserved. On the east side, the Schoberhaus is joined to the south by a closed row of narrow, plastered eaves side houses in half-timbered construction with protruding upper floors from the 17th and 18th centuries. Century on. The opposite western line is characterized by a regular row of gabled houses, in which there are adapted replacements from the 20th century. Boundary: Bahnhofstrasse 20–32 (even numbers), 35–53 (odd numbers), Dalbergstrasse 1. File number: E-6-72-127-2.
Hammelburg city fortifications
The city fortifications were first mentioned in 1242 and were completed between 1256 and 1260. The ring wall consisted of quarry stone masonry with a thickness of up to 1.5 m. The Zwingermauer is significantly narrower and partly built over with younger outbuildings. None of the former three city gates, the Weihertor in the west, the Upper Gate in the east and the Lower Gate in the north, have survived; they were demolished after the town fire in 1854. The gates all had gate towers, whereby the pond gate was especially reinforced with a cast bay window towards the Saale. Remnants of the medieval ring and kennel wall are mainly preserved in the southern section, with remains in the eastern course as well. File number: D-6-72-127-4. A total of three wall towers have been preserved.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
