History, description and equipment
Morlesau, in the beginning a branch of Hammelburg , was assigned to the Diebach parish when it was founded and to the Wolfsmünster parish in 1722 . Since 1811 and until today, the village has belonged to the Windheim Curate , which became a parish in 1848.
The church was built after 1500 in the post-Gothic period . According to the inscription on the lintel in the choir , the church was built in 1520.
The high altar , which is kept in rococo style and consecrated in 1777, houses an altarpiece created around 1750 with a representation of the Holy Trinity . The baroque right side altar shows the Mother of God as well as the church patron Cyriacus in the altar extract . Instead of a left side altar, a protective cloak Madonna by the Tyrolean carver Sepp Baumgartner from 1951 is installed in the church , a first gift from the local Franciscan Father Dominik Lutz. Two late Gothic figures of the apostles Peter and Paul from 1475 should also be mentioned. The organ of the church was built in 1830 by Johann Konstantin Suckfüll, an organ builder from Untererthal .
During a renovation between 1838 and 1841, the sacristy was renewed, the nave was enlarged by one to three window axes and the roof turret was built. The side windows of the nave and the eastern choir are pointed arches.
In 1917 the municipality of Morlesau purchased the two steel bells. They have a diameter of 66 cm and 51 cm. Their striking notes are probably f 2 and b 2 .
The last renovation of the church so far took place from 1993 to 1997.
