history

The sandstone crucifix consisting of a cross trunk , crossbar and Christ torso was created in the middle of the 16th century. The following legend is related to its creation:

A spinning maid from Reußenberg Castle made a pact with the devil to get to the spinning room at the Sodenberg Castle, where she met her lover, a squire of the castle. When it rained heavily one evening, she wanted to have a goat take her to Reußenberg Castle. At the crossroads the goat dropped her. Although she desperately held on to the crucifix, the devil took her to Hell. A picture of what was happening on the crucifix at the beginning is no longer visible. The remaining traces on the spinning maid's cross should come from the spinning maid, according to other versions from the devil.
