history
Untereschenbach probably belonged to the Hundsfeld parish in earlier times . The church is an old fortified church . It was built in the Romanesque period. Originally there was a wall around the church and cemetery. In the 15th century it was rebuilt in the Gothic style. In 1568 the choir was increased by a well-fortified half-timbered floor. In 1920 and 1973 the church was renovated.
Description and equipment
The church consists of the nave and the two-story choir in the east. She has a roof turret . The windows of the church are ogival with tracery . The church doors could be locked from the inside with beams.
The main altar of the church shows a baroque figure of Mary from around 1650 and three angels from the church in Hundsfeld. On the left side wall there is a figure of St. Michael, on the right side wall there is a figure of St. Sebastian, also from the Hundsfeld church. The angels on the main altar and the figure of St. Sebastian were created around 1730.
Peal
The rather spacious roof turret contains only two small bells. Only the dimensions of both bells and the weight of the first bell are determined from the sources. All other values are estimates by the article author based on tables.
